Generations....
              Let your light shine...

Each of us can learn tremendously from an older woman, either one who has been a Christian longer than ourselves or someone who has experienced more in life than we have experienced. We can learn more about God, learn more about raising children, learn more about letting children leave the nest, learn more about how to love those (both male and female) around us when our homes are empty, learn more about touching other women's lives in ways we could only dream if we did have children of our own. Reaching other generations isn't about reaching only those immediately or physically related to us. It's letting your light shine so that others can see Him who is most influential in your life, no matter what your age, no matter what your status, no matter where God has placed you for this time.

Titus 2:3-5 tells us older women should "pour their lives into younger women and their children" (Breaking Free Bible Study by Beth Moore)...

"Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

Psalms 145: 3 -5 tells us one generation will tell the next generation of the Lord's greatness and glorious splendor...

"Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
       his greatness no one can fathom.
 One generation will commend your works to another;
       they will tell of your mighty acts.
 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
       and I will meditate on your wonderful works."

Deuteronomy 4:9 reminds us not just to pass on what the Bible says, but what we've learned by experience...

"Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live.
Teach them to your children and to their children after them."

Matthew 5:16 reminds us to live each day as if we are being watched by those who follow in our footsteps...

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

We are blessed that Crossroads Community Church is comprised of many generations, and we all have something to teach and something to learn from all of those around us! Let's learn something about God together this year from another generation!
